Wekiva at Incubate Debate #1

Last Saturday (Sep. 30), Wekiva Debate Team students Andrea Lara, Aubrey Pugh, and Noah Oo participated in their first ever Incubate tournament at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL. They did an amazing job, all three advancing to semi-finals, and Noah and Andrea advancing to the final round.

The next Incubate tournament is Dec. 2nd. Join us for it!

FCDI National Civics and Debate Championship

Wekiva Debate Students are invited to attend a weekend debate championship tournament held at the Caribe Royale in  Orlando from Nov. 10-12, 2023. Students will compete in three events: congressional debate, impromptu speaking, and extemporaneous debate. Students who have completed the team membership application will be eligible to apply for scholarships to compete in this exciting event. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Sep. 15. Wekiva Debate Team Victorious at FCDI #5, Feb. 18, 2023.

The Wekiva Debate Team won two medals at today’s Florida Civics and Debate Initiative Tournament #5 at Lake Brantley High School. Wekiva junior Noah Oo won the first place medal in the Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate category on the resolution about open borders. Wekiva sophomore Aubrey Pugh won the second place medal in Varsity Original Oratory for her speech on the criminal justice system. Congratulations Noah and Aubrey!

Wekiva wins 1st Place Team Sweepstakes at NFCFL #3

The Wekiva Speech and Debate Team picked up two first place trophies at NFCFL Tournament #3 at Horizon High School on Nov. 5, 2022.

Wekiva’s Judah Myers won Best Novice Extemporaneous Speaking.

Wekiva’s Noah Oo won 1st Place Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Wekiva also was awarded First Place Small School Team Sweepstakes.
