SOFTBALL

AHS plays Tuesday (weather permitting) against the winner on Monday nights play-in game between Olympia and Wekiva.  These girls have been very impressive all year.  They are currently ranked #4 in Class 9A in Florida, they are the #1 seed in the District Tournament, Metro Conference champions and have a 20-5 record while playing undoubtedly the toughest schedule in the State. The 5 losses were either in extra innings or by a single run.  Of the 25 games we have played, 15 of those were against teams currently in the states top ten.

ARCHERY

Last Monday, AHS Archery faced the brave East River Falcons and dispatched them handily, revenging an earlier loss.

On Wednesday, we defeated Windermere Preparatory School 5-1 to advance to 3-4 heading into regionals.

This Saturday, our students traveled to Lake Mary Preparatory School. They shot like English bowmen of old, managing to claim between them the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th positions. The elimination rounds were less successful, but still a fantastic showing, with our best female archer claiming 2nd, losing a hard-fought final match. Our first team lost a torturous high stakes match in the semifinals to fall into the bronze medal match, but there prevailed and claimed the medal.

In the end, we finished 2nd overall, having shown massive improvement over the span of just two weeks. Congratulations are in order for each of our archers, listed in order of their accomplishments:

Caitlin Misurale: 1st place ranking rounds, 2nd place elimination rounds

Ryan Avery: 3rd place ranking rounds, 3rd place team elimination rounds

McKay Saunders: 6th place ranking rounds, 3rd place team

Max Anderson: 3rd place team

Bruce Hicks: 5th place ranking rounds

Bailey Kraft: 8th place ranking rounds

Hailey Shaw: 9th place ranking rounds

We look forward to State on April 21st !
