May 8, 2019 — A textbook a day makes the medical dream stay. Cypress Creek High School sophomore Melanie Cruz would like to have a career in the medical field, specifically as a dermatologist. In a recent interview, she showed her desire to be a helpful and positive person and talked about her goals and dreams for the future.

During the interview she was asked about her role model and she responded by saying, “My dad, because he isn’t the healthiest man, but he wakes up every day with a smile on his face and a positive attitude.” She noted how she wants to be the same type of person, not only to help her out in her career, but also for her personal life. Cruz also talked about wanting to help out others with skin care and when asked if she would rather make a simple thing complex or a complex thing simple she replied, “Make a complex thing simple, because I’d rather have the ability to compromise, and make a census together.”

Melanie also explained how she is a hard worker and wanted to make sure she always manages to be on top of her important work. “If it work I’ll try my best to make it good and meet all the requirements, so it’s not, like, as bad.” She hopes to be more accurate with her work to prepare for the future. Although she said she feels she is not a “self-starter”, she believes she still tries to get a lot done by herself.

Melanie defined the word quality as “good, not perfect because nothing is.” It shows how compassionate she is about her future career and how much she wants to do something special in it.
