Summer Opportunities – 2019

This is a running list of summer opportunities for highly-able/Gifted learners.  As more come across my desk, I will post them here.  If you know of any that you’d like to see added to this list, please feel free to email me!

I cannot attest to the quality of all the camps – I’m personally familiar with a few, but many are well known to other parents in the area, so chat with you parent-friends and get the scoop first-hand!

Full Sail University Summer Camps:
Experience the excitement of working on a real film, or game, or music production from start to finish, utilizing state-of-the art tech. At Full Sail Labs, our summer camp is like no other. It’s an exciting week of creation where each child explores the process of filmmaking, gaming, music, or robotics — by being a part of it! Each week has a theme, and kids use their imaginations, tech skills, and creative thinking to produce real projects while having fun in an amazing environment.”

Offered at Howard Middle School, the Fine Arts Summer Institute offers classes in Digital, Visual, and Performing Arts.   Follow the link above for more information.

Information from a colleague:    The Melrose Center downtown Orlando has brand new state of the art STEM based camps this summer. None are over 25$. Most are free.  It’s at the downtown library. Students are doing  Robotics, Science labs, and circuits.  Taught by college professors. There is also a 3-D printer where students can learn  to code and make a rocket ship.  It’s a very affordable award winning place.

Orlando Repertory Theatre:
This is one of the organizations I’ve dealt with personally.  The Orlando Rep is a jewel in our fair city.  My daughter practically grew up there during her summer breaks.  The people and experiences are fantastic!
