HOCO Week Recap

There is a time in every Eagle’s life when we spread our wings and leave the safety of our school to go on and do great things.

Edgewater’s SGA is calling all alumni and students back to the humble halls of Edgewater High School for a week of remembrance and fun.

This year’s homecoming theme is Nightmare on Edgewater Drive- which is centered around Friday the thirteenth.

Spirit Week

All week students and faculty were encouraged to participate in the festivities. Ten students were selected, two a day, for best dressed and received a free homecoming dance ticket for all their hard work.

Monday kicked off Spirit Week with Style Switch Day. Faculty and students stepped outside the box and showcased styles opposite of their own.

On Tuesday, everyone was repping their fan gear of their favorite colleges. Most came dressed in Florida team colors.

On Wednesday, the Eagles are getting a taste of winter with the “Swinter” themed day. Everyone was encouraged to pull their parkas and winter gear.

The halls were alive with spooky characters and haunting students on Thursday as everyone dressed up for Spooky Day.

And Friday was full of Edgewater pride as the entire campus went red and white for Crazy Red and White Day.

Pep Rally

The homecoming pep rally was nothing short of exciting as the school showed up to celebrate the homecoming court and football team.

SGA also revealed our new Lady Eagle mascot, Elena. Our beloved mascot Edgar also made a special appearance just to ask Elena Eagle to the homecoming dance in front of the everyone at school. She said yes.

Homecoming Parade

The high energy of the school day continued at the homecoming parade as the court along with various clubs, organizations, sports and community groups shut down Edgewater Drive for the event.

The parade ended at the back parking lot of the school where, despite the rainy  weather conditions everyone enjoyed the food trucks and pregame tailgate event.

The Lake Minneola Hawks were no match against the Fightin’ Eagles who won 27-26 in overtime. The Eagles would have a lot to celebrate the following evening at Homecoming.

Homecoming Dance

The homecoming dance was held in the cafeteria from 8 p.m to midnight. It was creatively decorated and wasn’t as spooky as everyone originally assumed it would be.

Aside from dancing you could have your picture taken by a professional photographer or in a photo booth. There were also refreshments available throughout the night.
