EVIL CLUTCHES GAME BUILD

UNIT LEARNING OBJECTIVE:   Students will learn to build a basic game from assets, by giving them sprite, object, and room properties.

TUTORIAL GUIDE:  The tutorial guide for this unit needs to be downloaded and completed as you work through the Evil Clutches tutorial stages.   Create a project folder on your desktop named Evil Clutches.  Use this folder below to store your tutorial guide and Game Maker files. Click on the links below to download the tutorial guides as you need them.

OTHER RESOURCES:   You will need graphics for the game build in the tutorial.  They will be found on your desktop in a folder called Evil Clutches Assets.

REQUIREMENTS:

READ THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE BELOW BEFORE DOING STEP 1

STEP 1:  Make sure that you set up your Evil Clutches folder on your desktop.  Download your first tutorial guide into your folder and save it with your initials_clutches123. 

STEP 2:  Open the tutorial Evil Clutches: Stages 1, 2, & 3.  Begin the Game Maker game build by following the procedure in the tutorial.  There will be prompts requiring you to write definitions for new vocabulary, hypothesis statements and evaluations on your tutorial guide.   Read the prompts carefully so you know what to write about.   Use the Glossary for definitions and Concepts Explained as needed.  When each tutorial guide is completed, upload it to your teacher as directed.

STEP 3:  After completing Stages 1, 2, & 3,  continue the process by downloading tutorial guides (see Tutorial Guide section above) and then completing tutorials.  The subsequent tutorial links are listed below.

Use this link to open the supplemental activity for Probability and Randomness.  This should be completed along with Stages 7, 8, & 9.

STEP 4:  When the game has been completed and tested, have your teacher check it so it can be assessed based on the rubric (see ASSESSMENT section below).  Make sure your tutorial guides have been uploaded so they can be assessed.

ASSESSMENT: This game build with tutorial guides is worth 125 points                 25 points – transposing vocabulary guide                                                                                50 points – hypothesis and evaluation statements                                                                      50 points –  completed working game build.

POINTS WILL BE CONVERTED INTO A PERCENTAGE GRADE ON PROGRESSBOOK BASED ON THE TYPICAL  SCALE (ie. 90-100 = A).
