MEET YOUR TEACHERS

Take a moment to read about your FRENCH VPK team at Hillcrest.

MME SUSAN BULTMAN          (aka Peterson)                    FRENCH VPK LEAD TEACHER

This is my 16th year of teaching, and a dream come true to be the pilot teacher for the new French VPK at Hillcrest Elementary Foreign Language Magnet School.  Regardless the grade levels I have taught over the years (1st, 4th, 5th, K-5 Blended) my primary objective as a child coach and learning facilitator is develop the whole child. In our classroom, students will be engaged in hands-on, interactive learning and play centers where they will learn to socialize, inquire, assert themselves, collaborate, problem solve and take responsibility for their choices.I am a Conscious Discipline teacher who believes children of all ages can be empowered at developmentally appropriate stages to learn about themselves and how they learn best.  Each learner is unique, and there is room for all learning styles in our classroom. As a foreign language teacher, students acquire the language through authentic experiences instead of simple rote memorization. Students will love exploring the French-speaking (francophone) world through various cultural experiences throughout the year. I am a Florida native who worked corporately in Manhattan, traveling 27 states, before serving with a non-profit international group. I have traveled to France 13 times and in March visited my 50th state! This summer, the newest child born in our huge family made me an aunt for the 30th time!  (PS 4-year-olds are my absolute favorite!)

MME LOGAN KUCHENBUCH FRENCH VPK PARAPROFESSIONAL

Mme Logan (as the students call her) is already a veteran of the VPK program here at Hillcrest. She helped Mrs. Epalza open the new Spanish VPK last year and students and parents alike found her to be a loving, caring and a sensational paraprofessional/ teacher in their classroom.  Mme Logan has taught as a substitute teacher with OCPS prior to Hillcrest and is on the path to pursue her BA in Early Childhood education. She is the mother of 4 wonderful children (ages 11, 10, 8 and 5), two who were former students of mine. Her husband, Franck, is a native of France, so her love and knowledge of the French language (beginning at the age of 12) came in handy then and will now in our new French VPK classroom. Mme Logan gives back to her community,  having served with Feed the Homeless and Habitat for Humanity. It is my joy and honor to be partnering with her in your child’s VPK classroom.aching at Hillcrest.
