In the 62nd anniversary game, the football team (3-5) battled the Edgewater Eagles (1-8) for the barrel.

The game started  slow until the Eagles scored the first goal in the middle of the first quarter.

Determined to keep the barrel, the Braves made it 7-3 in the second quarter with senior Austin Jones’ field goal.  Then the boys took the lead, 10-7, with senior Calvin Smith’s 20 yard touchdown.

The Eagles used their time carefully scoring their second field goal moments before halftime.

Before the Eagles could score another touchdown, the Braves intercepted the ball and ran it back to the 20 yard line. It was Calvin Smith’s touchdown and Austin Jones kick that put them back in the lead, 17-13.

The Braves and Eagles went back-to-back scoring touchdowns until the score was 27-24 with the Braves down by three points. In the last seconds of the final quarter, junior Logan Smith  passed the ball to junior Adam Anderson who caught it in the back corner.  The TD and Jones’ put the team ahead, 31-27.

This triumph was special since Boone has not won beat Edgewater back-to-back since 1963.
