Last night, the football team (3-4) took on the Freedom Patriots (3-4) to tally another W in the scorebook.

Early in the first quarter, senior Darnell Burton, #24, scored for the Braves starting the game on the right foot.  With Andrew Dawson’s kick good, the team lead the Patriots 7-0.

In the second quarter, senior Logan Smith’s 5-yard pass was complete to junior Alexis Bergen, #4, making it a Boone first down. However, with the goal in sight, they weren’t able to convert the drive.  Andrew Dawson’s field-goal attempt was successful.   Just before half-time, Burton made another touchdown, but Dawson’s kick failed. The team entered the half 16-0.

At halftime, last year’s homecoming king and queen, Stephen Brock and Courtney Patz, crowned Wesley Harper and Lindsay Perrin as this year’s king and queen.

Burton made a third touchdown in the third quarter, and Dawson’s kick was good.

The Braves held the Patriots scoreless until the fourth quarter.  Then the Patriots bounced back, scoring their first touchdown to put the score at 23-7.  But the Braves made another touchdown on a 47-yard run by junior Javon Richards, #2, and another field-goal by Dawson, #23.

Towards the end of the fourth quarter, junior Michael Cameron, #26, intercepted the ball, ending the game 30-7.

Next Thursday, the boys will have Senior Night before they play Cypress Creek on the Reservation at 7:30.
