In their game against Timber Creek on April 8, the baseball team came out victorious, 7-4.

The top of the first inning started with junior Timothy Kaiser on the mound, he struck out the first batter without trouble. Senior Ramon Alejo then got the second batter out, and senior Robert Simmons stretched to make the catch for the third out.

As the Braves entered the bottom of the first inning at bat, plays got a little more interesting. Senior Adam Anderson hit a double, and senior Evan Lumbert walked to first base. Alejo attempted a bunt and then got two strikes getting the first out of the inning. Right behind Alejo, senior Onasis Matos was at-bat. The Timber Creek catcher dropped the ball, and allowed Anderson and Lumbert to advance to second and third base. Matos helped bring in the first run of the game with a line drive that brought Anderson home and Lumbert to third. Sophomore Noah Chevallier went up to bat, struck out, and ended the first inning of the game.

In the top of the second, Kaiser sprinted off the mound to first base and used his team to get Timber Creek player #6 out at first base. As the ball came to right field, Lumbert missed it, which let Timber Creek player #10 make his way around to third base. Another Timber Creek player hit a single and #10 made it home, tying the score at 1-1. The bottom of the second didn’t have much action; the Braves showed effort but didn’t score.

Heading into the third inning, Timber Creek player #8 hit a single. One other Timber Creek player hit another single while #8 tried to steal third after getting to second but Simmons and Alejo made a double play, getting both players out.

The fourth inning was the highest scoring inning in the game. Timber Creek made three runs, 1-4, but the Braves quickly redeemed themselves. Matos walked to first then advanced to second after Chevallier hit a single. When the Timber Creek catcher dropped the ball again, Matos and Chevallier both stole bases, which got them onto second and third. Senior Quentin Davis hit the ball to center field, bring Matos home, 2-4. When Kaiser was up to bat, Timber Creek catcher dropped the ball once again, Kaiser got to first and Chevallier made it home, 3-4. Anderson drove the ball into left field and brought Davis and Kaiser home, giving the Braves the lead, 5-4.

Senior Gavin Oliver started the fifth inning with consistent pitching. Anderson and Lumber both caught fly balls and sophomore Christopher Jones got a  Timber Creek player out that hit the ball to center field.

Timber Creek did not score in the top of the sixth inning.  At-bat Oliver drove the ball up the middle and got to first base. Anderson then hit the ball all the way to the gate and brought Gavin home, 6-4. With support from the crowd, Lumbert hit a triple and brought Anderson home, 7-4.

The Braves ended the game with strong defense and Oliver’s consistent pitching.

The boys’ next home game is Friday, April 10 against Montverde Academy.
