On Oct. 12 the Lady Braves volleyball team (15-8) defeated the Edgewater Eagles (10-8) by a landslide in an easy-going three-set match.

Junior Erin Carter started the first set with a kill and racked in many more throughout the set. Sophomore Lillian Baker followed Carter’s kill with an ace, allowing the girls to take the lead. Freshman Clara Flint made the set-winning kill ending the first set 25-16.

To ease into the second set, Lillian Baker scored another ace. Carter and senior Sydney Ritten racked in several points until tragedy approached. In the middle of the second set, Ritten, key player, rolled her ankle and had to sit out the remainder of the match. Despite the loss their right side hitter, the girls pushed through and Julia Alves tipped the ball ending the second set 25-21.

The third set started with back and forth points, but the girls fought hard. Baker and Carter had several kills and senior Chloe Frye scored an ace. Senior Albany Alexander killed the ball and scored the Braves’ final point to end the game 25-16.

This game ended the Lady Braves regular season. Winter Park will host the district semi-finals on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. The winners of those games play for the championship on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
