Dream Lake ES, named after a spring-fed lake adjacent to the school, was first built in 1954. The property on which Dream Lake was built, was initially a small country airport, Ryan Municipal Airport.
The school was refurbished in 2016, and these former Little Blue Darters, now had a new 21st century building in which the school’s rich history for strong academics could thrive. In 2017, the school embraced a Ron Clark Academy inspired House System. The acronym S.T.R.E.A.M embodies the academic focus of science and mathematics that Dream Lake is known for. The school is also known for its inclusivity and teaching the whole child; therefore, teachers aim to integrate technology, reading and art throughout the curriculum.
Student engagement through fun and rigorous instruction has afforded Dream Lake the designation of School of Innovation for the 2020-2021 school year. Dream Lake will once again be a pioneer in the Apopka community for creating a teaching and learning environment where all students can thrive.
Principal Carol-Ann Clenton-Martin’s passion for education can be traced back to heritage in Trinidad and Tobago where both of her parents were educators. Mrs. Clenton-Martin has spent a significant part of her career working with students and families in exceptional student education. As a principal, her goals are to create a model school that exemplifies student engagement and inclusivity. Outside of the office, Mrs. Clenton-Martin enjoys traveling abroad and spending time with her husband, and three children.
