SunRidge Middle School is located in Winter Garden on the west side of Orange County. SunRidge opened in August 2012 as a traditional grade 6th through 8th middle school. SunRidge has been named a state of Florida School of Excellence and an Orange County School of Innovation. SunRidge offers rigorous core academic coursework and engaging electives to all students. SunRidge takes great pride in our award winning FFA program, active fine arts department, championship winning athletic teams, and Project Lead the Way program. SunRidge staff are currently working with community members to further develop their innovation plan for the 2019-2020 school year.
Mrs McHale is an Orlando native. She graduated from Dr Phillips High School after attending OCPS schools K-12. She received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the Florida State University. While teaching 7th and 8th grade science, she earned her Masters degree in School Counseling from UCF. One of her most rewarding jobs was as a middle school counselor. Mrs McHale then went on to earn her Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from NOVA. She has served OCPS as an administrator for 14 years. Mrs McHale I proud to be a part of the SunRidge family since July 2018.
Originally from Miami, Florida, Mrs. Sarmiento went to UCF to earn a degree in Elementary Education and her master’s in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Sarmiento joined SunRidge Middle School in December 2017, following 10 years of teaching experience within schools in west Orange County. She first began her career at the elementary school level where she taught 2nd and 5th grade classes the first 7 years of her career. Before joining the SunRidge family, she worked as the Reading Coach and ESOL Compliance Specialist at the middle school level.
Mr. Foster Graduated from the University of Central Florida in May of 1995 with a BS Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Foster received a MS Degree in Computer Science in 1999 from NOVA Southeastern University and Educational Leadership Certification from NOVA Southeastern University in 2001. Mr. Foster has been an Assistant Principal at SunRidge Middle School for six years and has been an Assistant Principal in OCPS for 17 years. Mr. Foster has worked as an Assistant Principal at the Elementary, Middle and High School level during his 17 year administrative career in OCPS. Mr. Foster’s responsibilities at SunRidge Middle School consist of the following: Principal in Principal’s Absence, Supervisor of Main Office, Assistant Principal of Instruction, and Assistant Principal of ESE Programs, Oversee Master Schedule, Oversee School Discipline, and Oversee Testing Coordinator.
