We have an updated Final Exam schedule. I will pass along how the band/jazz band/orchestra tests will work soon. In the meantime: Band students START REVIEWING!!! I’m still working on Orchestra review sheets. That test is last, so we have time. Jazz Band’s test is THURSDAY NEXT WEEK!!!!
Exams will be administered in the band room. I will create a band/orchestra schedule as soon as the school’s schedule has been completed. Each class will have 100 minutes to complete their test. Tests are 40 multiple choice questions. 85%-95% of the questions are based on material that we cover in class daily, weekly or monthly. The Band 2, Band 3, and Jazz Band tests cover more music history & music genera questions than the Band 1 tests. I personally helped write the questions Band 3 and Jazz Band tests (no I don’t remember the exact questions – it was 3 years ago). I can guarantee that we have well written tests. The students simply need to take a breath, think through the questions, and they will do just fine.
Orchestra students can also rest easy, as their test will be very similar in fashion. While I was not involved in writing your test – I know the people who did. We will have review sheets for you soon!
Below you will find this year’s final exam review packets for band classes. (Orchestra packets are pending). For periods 2/3/5/6 – students will earn Bonus Points in their Band Karate grade. Each packet is worth 20 bonus points. Packets must be completed by May 24th in order to earn the bonus points (please note that this due date is after the tests for periods 1-3). Packets must be completed, and any corrections made my May 26th. Packets turned in after the deadlines will not be accepted.
Jazz Band students will earn 5 Skill Check points for each packet completed. (trust me-it’s the same level of bonus grade). Please note that jazz students who complete the packets will earn bonus points for both jazz & concert classes.
We will do a formal exam review next week. If you cannot print the packets, hard copies will be available upon request.

I will be adjusting how the CFE review packets are done and how bonus grades are dealt with this term. I should have it ready to go by May 1st. In the meantime; feel free to check out last year’s worksheets below.
New Updates (5.19.16)
Free BKR! Complete 8 worksheets to earn a free BKR. The 8 must include one of the vocabulary or musical elements worksheets. All worksheets must be 100% correct to count. All worksheets (as well as any corrections) must be turned in by 6/6/16. There are enough documents for students to earn two free BKR.
Step 1 for Band CFE prep: Relax; we’ve been over 90% of what you’ll see on a daily or weekly basis in class. The other 10% I’ll guide you along the way (remember I was part of the test writing process).
Step 2 for Band CFE prep: Pay attention to the review items in class. (5-10 minutes a day after the concert).
Step 3 for Band CFE prep: Did I mention relax? This has been a grueling testing season. It will all be over soon. Remember – the true evidence of your success is the Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 25th, not how you fill in 40 bubbles.
