A huge thank you to the many families that were able to make it to Open House! The students were so happy to share their classroom with you.  I truly look forward to an amazing year with this Booth Bunch!

Scholastic-   Our first Scholastic book orders are due today.  You can follow the information on the front to order online if you’d like. This is a great chance to get some of those on level books that interest your child at a great price.  Scholastic also generally donates many books to our classroom with your orders.  They are the reason we are able to have such a great selection of books in our classroom! ***Book levels – please refer to the book level paper that was sent home at open house to help choose “just right” books on your child’s level.

New Shirts – The PTA is proud to present a new spirit shirt for our students, teachers and staff. The shirts are available in 8 different colors. Some of the colors of the new shirts fall outside of our school uniform guidelines. These “non-school color” shirts should only be worn on Fridays and must be NorthLake Park spirit shirt. In your weekly communication, please remind parents that  uniforms Monday-Thursday are collared shirts or NLP t-shirts in school colors with khaki or blue bottoms. On Fridays, students may wear jeans and the fun colored NLP t-shirts.

Please see the attached link to view and order the shirt:

*The shirts may be order via a link on under the “uniforms” tab.

Assessments-  Weekly tests in reading and math are off to a great start.  As these start coming home I wanted to make you aware that we are scaffolding the help given to students to help them be successful.  As of right now, reading and math tests have been read and explained together.  The students are only answering on their own.  We are working together to find clues and answers in the text together in reading as this is a huge skill for third graders.  We will gradually ease off helping and guiding the students as the semester progresses.

Coming up- Be on the lookout as well for interim reports coming home next week.  Please sign the progress report after viewing it and have your child return it to school (they will take it to keep at home after I have checked your signature).

Math-  We have started our “foundation to multiplication” however ALL math facts (including addition and subtraction)are so very important.  Knowing basic facts will help your child be successful with various math concepts we learn this year.  Please check out Math Magicians.  A flyer went home from Open House.  This is a great resource:  I can’t wait to hang their certificates up in our classroom =)

Weekend Warrior –  We learned all about math arrays today!  The practice page is optional (3.4).
