Grading

2nd grade is the first year students receive traditional letter grades. This can be a big adjustment from 1st grade since the S, N, U categories are so much broader.

90%-100% A

80%-89% B

70%-79% C

60%-69% D

Below 60% F

  • 2 grades per week in ELA and Math.  1 grade per week in Science and Social Studies (since those subjects have fewer instructional minutes). 
  • Reading and Language Arts are combined into one subject area: English Language Arts.
  • Students have the number of days absent plus 1 to complete make-up work.
  • Late assignments/projects will have points deducted.
  • Per district policy, the lowest grade a student can receive on an assignment is a 50%. Scores below 50% will be indicated in the “comments” line next to the assignment.

Grades are categorized by assignment type and weighted:

Tests 40%

Quizzes 35%

Classwork 25%
