The 17 members of the Boone Varsity Guard had a very exciting 2015 WGI and FFCC Season. The Varsity Guard placed first place in every regular season competition, winning the FFCC Gold Medal in Scholastic Open. They also won the WGI Orlando Regional and the WGI Southeastern Regional

Times are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-4pm. Tuesday and Thursday 9am-9pm. Premiere show Friday August 8th at 6pm.
All camps are mandatory for students enrolled in band or guard classes in the 2014-2015 school year. All students who participate in band will get a summer school .5 credit.
For all these summer dates please meet in the band room. Plan to wear shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We will be outside for a large portion of band camp. Plan accordingly. Bring lunch and a 1/2 gallon to full gallon water jug in order to stay hydrated.

If interested in joining the Boone Percussion Studio for the 2014-2015 school year. We will be having open training every Thursday from 3-5 in the Band Room until the end of the school year. Auditions will take place on Thursday June 5th from 9am – 6pm in the Band Room. Our first big percussion camp will be Monday through Wednesday June 9-11. Times TBD. Wear gym type clothing. The 2014 Winter Guard Season was a very successful one for the Boone High School JV and Varsity teams.
*Earned third place at the FFCC East River Contest
*Placed fourth at FFCC Championships in the Scholastic AA Paradigm Division
*Invited to compete against A Class in the Scholastic A Company Division
*Made it into WGI Orlando Regional Finals at UCF
*Placed second at FFCC Championships in the Scholastic Open DIvision
If interested in joining the Boone Colorguard. We will be having open training on Tuesdays from 4-6 in the Band Room starting April 29th. There will be a camp/auditions on Thursday June 5th from 9am – 6pm in the Band Room. Wear dance/gym type clothing.

We had about 50 members of our “Sound of the Braves” perform at Seminole High School in Sanford for State Solo and Ensemble on Thursday March 20. All of our students performed beautifully and we came home with 40 Superior Ensemble Medals, 5 Superior Solo Medals and 1 Superior with Distinction Solo Medal!!! Please congratulate these students for all of their hard work!!!

In the second week of February, many of our “Sound of the Braves” performed at District Solo and Ensemble where Solos or Small groups were being evaluated by judges from around the state. We came back home with students earning a total of 86 superior ratings for Boone High School. Some of the performances included Various solos on Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Horn, Tuba and Marimba. Multiple Woodwind and Brass Quintets. There were Flute, Saxophone, and Tuba/Euph Quartets. Multiple Percussion ensembles, a Flute choir and a Clarinet choir. Any solo or ensemble that received a superior rating with music that is at a grade 5 or higher will be performing their music at State Solo and Ensemble either on March 20 or 21. We are very proud of our students hard work!!! The Boone JV and Varsity Winter guards have been working very hard the past couple of weeks!!! If you have tomorrow January 18th available it would be great if you came out to Mainland High School; 1255 W International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL, 32114. The cost of Admission is $15 for adults and free for children under 6. Boone JV performs at 3:58pm and Boone Varsity performs at 8:07pm. Lets get tons of orange in the stands for these kids FFCC Premiere show!!!
In February, BHS will host a 5k race which will help raise money for clubs (such as band) and athletics. For every registration filled and paid for. The Athletic association will give half the money to any club or organization, and the other half will stay in athletics. The more people that runs for the band. The more money the band will receive. Click on the link below for more detailed information. The race is on Saturday Morning February 15th. If you turn in entries for the race please send in the registration info to Mr. Eslava so he can keep a spreadsheet of who the money we collect from will go to!!!
