On Friday, Oct. 31 students were able to dress as characters from their favorite stories. Every year Patricia Magee hosts Literary Character Day, which allows students to dress up for the Halloween season. Students are assigned to dress as a character from a novel, and when doing so can receive extra credit in their English classes and compete in a costume contest.

This year’s Literary Character Day began at the start of 3rd period. As soon as students arrived in the courtyard, each participant was lined up and prepared for judging.  Four judges were present: Kim Dobson, David Germain, Jeffrey Buettner, and Victoria Negron.  Judging lasted about 15 minutes, and the judges went off to the side to deliberate.

A second group was separated as the judges pulled out three students as the winners. 1st place was Lorina Morton as Elphaba Throbb from Wicked, 2nd place was Rebecca Allen as Saphira from Eragon, and 3rd place was Leander Shedd as Tom Buchanen from The Great Gatsby. 1st place prizes included a Barnie’s gift card and a yearbook.
