On Friday Apr. 17, students voted for their 2015-2016 student body officers during their social studies class in the PAC. Election results were announced on Wolf TV the following Monday.Student Body President-elect Laura Lozano was astonished to hear the election results: “I hope to use our successes and failures to build off from. I hope to make the rest of the students realize what SGA [Student Government Association] does because I think everyone focuses on the minor things, like Homecoming, rather than the broader point.”

The SB board consists of Lozano; VP Paula Campo, Treasurer Elizabeth Laing, and Secretary Yaritza ‘Yari’ Montalvo. Along with the board, students voted for the board of their grade level board staff members. “I was happy that all the hard work I put into my campaign paid off and I’m excited for the new year to start!” said Montalvo.

Students who ran for a higher position must be in SGA and campaigned for an entire week. Campaigners posted bright posters around the campus, handed out candy and promoted themselves on Wolf TV.

Senior Class President-elect, Brittany Crary already has plans for the upcoming year. To make senior year an enjoyable one for the class of 2016, she is organizing a senior trip. Lozano is also planning, “to expand our horizons in a sense of doing more outside events and popular fundraisers that weren’t able to be carried out this year; due to time restraints or administration.” She concluded off with a remark that she would like all students to know: “A title is just a sense of entitlement, because what it really comes down to is who is really willing to put in the work and time to accomplish things.”
