The Timber Creek Marching Regiment attended the FMBC regional competition on Saturday, October 7th, at Durant High School. The Regiment’s show this year is entitled Into The Storm and is based off of the classic novel The Grapes of Wrath. After performing on field, the band received 2nd in class and 2nd place overall with a score of 81.4502. First place overall and in class 5A went to Tarpon Springs High School, who scored a total of 87.8 as well as caption awards for music, visual, general effects, and percussion.

The following weekend, Saturday, October 14th, the Regiment competed at John I. Leonard High School against Stoneman Douglas and Park Vista, who last year beat Timber Creek at state finals. Unfortunately, at John I. Leonard, Park Vista High School took first place again with a score of 82.05 and Stoneman Douglas received second, scoring an 81.95. The Timber Creek Regiment won 4th place at the John I. Leonard FMBC marching competition with a score of 77.25, 4th place overall score, and best percussion in class.

Even though the band didn’t take first they are still very proud of what they have accomplished since August. Band director Devin Hoey states that he is “very proud of the Regiment family” and  believes they did the best they could. A week from now on Saturday, October 28th, they will participate in their final FMBC competition for the year at Jacksonville University.

Regiment leadership members happily pose with their second place trophy after a long 18-hour day of hard work.
