Freshman Catlinh Nguyen at one of the Junior Varsity games making a great hit.

On August 21st, 2017, our lady wolves started their volleyball season off. Varsity and Junior Varsity got their first win against Oak Ridge that night. This volleyball season went very well thanks to our lady wolves for slaying the season. Coach Stevens said, “The season went very well. The girls played good and  we were very consistent. We went to regionals this season. We hadn’t beat Boone, but we beat them twice this season which was a big accomplishment.” Stevens is very proud of how the girls did this season. Going to regionals is exciting and the girls beat Boone twice this season, on October 2nd and October 18th.

The Varsity team had a great season, finishing with 12 wins and 9 losses. Congrats to the three seniors, Brooke Phillips, Riley Sauers, and Marilei Rivera, who had a season to remember. These girls created a bond like no other, having a bond with your teammates changes how you play with that team. Varsity player, Nayeli Diaz, said “We built new relationships, new ways to play, and had fun.” The girls grew closer and played amazing

Junior Varsity had a great season with winning 13 games and tying 1, with no losses. Going the whole season with one loss is a big accomplishment. Freshman Catlinh Nguyen said, “It was a fun season and it went by really quick.” 14 games sounds like a lot but when you are having fun and  love what you do time flies. All of these girls are committed to volleyball and they love it. That’s why they only lost one game this season, to West Orange High School.

The Freshman team finished their first season at Timber Creek with 5 wins and no losses. Great job to the Freshman for starting their high school volleyball carrier off going undefeated. Sometimes it can be hard to join a new team, and play with new people. Natalie Garay on the freshman girls volleyball team, says “High school volleyball was a lot of fun. You grow closer with the girls as a team, as friends, and you learn to trust them, even outside of volleyball. It was a very rewarding experience.” Going undefeated, having a great time and making new friends sounds like a big reward to me. The freshmen definitely proved themselves this year.

All of the information and quotes received, all shows how the girls love the game and love playing volleyball with each other. Girls volleyball had an amazing season, and I can’t wait to see all of the girls back in action next year! Great job Lady Wolves
