Since May 2017, the Timber Creek Regiment has been rehearsing and perfecting their show, The Grapes of Wrath: Into the Storm. Each school day, the students and staff work hard for at least three hours outside on their practice pad in the bus loop.

The Regiment has a high reputation in the county as they have received superior in MPA (Music Performance Assessments) for the 17th year in a row on Saturday, November 4th, at Apopka High school. The first band assessed on Saturday was at 2 pm, and our Timber Creek closed out the night, performing at 8:45 pm.

Not only was it an emotional and sentimental final performance of Into the Storm for the Regiment, but it was also the last performance in their uniforms. These uniforms are a decade years old, and the students knew that the performance at MPA was not only for them, but for all the other students since 2008, who have worn those uniforms who created the Regiment’s reputation for the last decade. After the performance on November 4th, the Timber Creek Regiment will have a new image. Their next show, to be announced in May 2018, they will have a new and improved look.

The Regiment had a very good season this year, and placed top in the state throughout the various competitions in October. On October 7th, the band performed at Durant High School and received 2nd place with 79 points overall. The next competition, John I. Leonard HS, the band went against their rivals, Park Vista and Stoneman Douglass high schools. It was a tough competition, and the band placed 4th overall. The last competition of the season, October 28, the Regiment traveled north for the first time in many years to Jacksonville University. They placed second, with 89 points; only three tenths of a point behind the 1st place, Choctawhatchee HS.

Each year, the seniors of the Regiment graduate, and leave the next highest class the responsibilities of leadership. This senior class stepped up to the job and motivated the band through the best and most complex show the Regiment has ever had. The seniors of the program will walk away from this family that welcomed them four years ago as freshman, to a new life. The legacies they left behind will influence our Timber Creek Regiment and set the expectations for these determined and hardworking students. The Regiment had a successful season and will continue to strive for achievement in future years.

Determined. Junior alto saxophone player, Nick Roque stands at attention, patiently waiting for the instructions during a rehearsal before a competition. “I’m so glad to have been part of this years’ seniors’ performances, you guys mean a lot to me. And a huge thank you to the altos and Raquel for the best section I’ve been a part of. I love all you guys.”
