Anime club is a place where people go if they have an interest or liking in anime and manga. Anime is something that isn’t normally liked by the average person, so Anime club is a place where you can go and you will not be judged for what you like. The club meets on Thursday from after school to about 3:30. Students that take part in the club like Junior Edwin Ruiz that joined the club in his freshman year believes that, “Everyone in that club is family. We all are a big family. No one judges you for who you are.” The club usually has an average of about 24 students every Thursday when they met.
At the beginning of the month when they meet, students begin to talk about what anime they plan to watch the rest of the month. Students vote for the ones they want. Then the Peer Watcher, Andress Montelongo watches the animes to see if they are appropriate for school. In the weeks to come students watch the ones that were accepted for being appropriate for school.
Another student that attends anime club, Sophomore River (Alexis) Wyatt believes that the club is filled with love and that it is “accepting of everyone.” Both Ruiz and Wyatt said that they would join the club next year. The club has recently changed classrooms because of the different views of students and faculty. The classroom is now P1, Mr. Diaz from before being 606 Mrs.Herrington.
Students are being presented by Mariana Ramirez-Velasco, President of anime club, different anime that they can choose from that they would like to watch for the month of November. They do this by voting for them by a raise of hands in P1.
