Fiasco with replacing Stadium bleachers
If you have been near the football stadium this year you would notice there’s something off about it. There are no bleachers on the home side, the booth is gone, and it’s a complete mess. Over summer Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) hired people to take down the bleachers and the booth and put up new ones due to the old one being rotten. The project was originally due for August 15th then got pushed to September 13th.
The biggest question is how did the home football games workout, especially the homecoming game Friday September 21st. Dr. Kelly Paduano, Principal of Timber Creek has all the answers. “The vendor isn’t doing the work. OCPS has been working so hard to try and get it completed and work closely to the vendor and see what’s happening. Due to this we won’t let it affect our Homecoming game, it will be amazing. It’s about the memories you make, not the seats you sit in”. Dr. Paduano also stated that they rented multiple guest bleachers and Timber Creek students would sit on the guest side.
Seniors get excited! All seniors sat in the end zone and had a “Tailgate.” Students brought their own chairs and anything they wanted to enjoy their homecoming game. Between the seniors in the end zone and the purple people, they cheered on the Wolves for their big Homecoming game. All the students had a wonderful time regardless of the final score. Senior Ethan Morales says, “The view of the game wasn’t that good but I talked to people I normally don’t talk to on a regular basis”.
Right now at the moment there has been no progress made on the field for a couple weeks. OCPS hopes to get the renovation done as soon as possible so Timber Creek can start having home games again. Lets hope OCPS gets everything worked out or they find a new vendor to do the work. Every student’s favorite part of the fall is the football games on Fridays but sadly the students haven’t gotten that experience so far. Students are hoping that they will be up for the spring game so they can enjoy their games again.
