TCHS Speech and Debate Team did well this weekend at the Liberty Bell Classic at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Here are the results:
*4th place Original Oratory-Madeline Loyd
*1st speaker-Public forum Debate- Reed Flory
*3rd speaker Public forum Debate- Nathan Vidal
*Semifinalist-Congressional Debate-Nolan Hammond
*Quarterfinalist-Oral Interp-William Harris
*Octofinalist-Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate-Alex Noegel
*Octofinalist-Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate-Daniel Wu
*Double Octofinalists Public Forum Debate- Reed Flory and David Kirwan; Colin Larsen and Nathan Vidal; Matt Morrow and Ankit Vishnubhotla; Selena Zhao and Leyla Remh (Selena and Leyla went undefeated in preliminary rounds and were 3rd seed at the end of prelims. Reed and David were 4th seed )
In addition, the team attended a Q & A with Congressman Chaka Fattah from West Philly. They asked some very thoughtful questions and were the only students the Congressman posed with for pictures. We were even on the local evening news.
