Due to tragic events, the Early Childhood Education classroom was flooded and it’s furniture and walls (for the most part) were destroyed. Almost a month has passed and the kids, student teachers, and teachers are back in the class but there is still work to be done. The children came back with only tables to sit at and only a handful of educational toys and books. Early Childhood is in desperate need of all the help they can get.
Aaliyah Suarez and Sydney Klem had started a fundraising account in honor of the program to help it get back on it’s feet. They met their goal of $750 in no time at all . this will help buy new storage units, books, children’s rugs, toys, arts and crafts supplies, and much more. The children are doing their best with what materials they have right now, but the program wants to make sure they have the safest and most high-quality materials they can provide.
Student teachers are finally starting up with their regular lesson plans and daily schedules. Junior Kamden Epp is happy to finally be back to the somewhat normality of the program’s routine. As all teachers, she cares deeply about how the adjustment of the environment has been for the kids.
“It’s been a rough couple of weeks, the kids and us, student teachers had some trouble readjusting to the new environment of our temporary learning center, but I’m glad we’re back in the classroom!”-Kamden Epp
