Spring sports have once again started up for Timber Creek. Amongst the many sports, the varsity girls’ lacrosse team is one to watch out for. They have their eyes on the prize and they are not looking to disappoint.
Senior defender Danielle Kleinberg said “We’re going to go to states this year. All of us have the same goals this year, and we have the talent.” With that combination the girls’ team is confident that they will go far.
The girls’ lacrosse team had to play against Vero Beach High School, which happened to be number one in the state for the past six years and 12th in the nation. Timber Creek was able to hold a tie until the last few minutes of the game with an ending score of 12-8. Kleinberg again commented, saying “no other school in Florida has been that close to beating them.”
So far, the girls’ lacrosse team has held an 8-1 record, with an upset loss to Oviedo High School (their rivals who they expect to see again in districts.) “We’re really just trying to take it one game at a time to the road to states,” said senior captain Brittany Brewer. Brewer has also signed to Slippery Rock University for lacrosse.
Although the team has the talent, drive, and confidence to come out on top, junior captain Lauren Sherry made sure to say, “I think this season we will be state bound by staying humble and focused.”
