Desperate Times
The football team had an amazing 2019 fall season, and it was no doubt one of the most hype seasons in Timber Creek history! Of course, once the season ends, that does not mean the training and discipline ends there too. Usually, our players get a summer season succeeding the fall season, however, summer plans got cancelled due to an unprecedented obstacle known as Coronavirus. Therefore, all of their training, preparation, and practice plans had been cancelled until further notice. So how did they keep up and gear up before school started?
Stay Lean Over Quarantine
For the first few months after the discovery of the virus, everyone across the world went on lockdown and began to practice social distancing. Of course, this impacted the football players over the summer, considering they are a contact sport. Since their summer season was caput, many of the players resorted to working out at home and at gyms when they began to open up again. Senior, Isaiah Cintron stated, “I was in the gym daily since I knew this season was not guaranteed.” Many other players came up with their own training schedules to remain in shape since they were not sure when they would return!
Keep Moving Forward
Once quarantine/lockdown began to come close to an end, the wolves were allowed to return to the field! Starting on July 6th, the players had conditioning practices for one hour Mondays through Thursdays. They began preparing for their upcoming 2020 fall season, although they were not sure what this season would look like. With these conditioning days, they were able to get back on their game. Of course, during these practices they made sure to enforce all social distancing measures when off the field. During breaks, they had to remain 6 feet apart at all times.
Work Hard, Play Hard
Now that the season has officially started, the wolves are as back to normal as they can be! They have resumed their daily practices throughout the week in order to prepare for their games every Friday. Nonetheless, there are many differences this year, due to COVID-19. There is a limited audience at the games this year, and there are only 8 games instead of 10. Despite this, the wolves continue to play and work hard to the best of their ability. They just had an amazing win against Windermere, once again proving that the wolves cannot be stopped!
