Mrs.Welk’s classroom got the opportunity to paint pumpkins for Halloween for the second year in a row.The event was Wednesday October 18 in Mrs.Vincent’s ceramics classroom. Mrs.Vincent and Mrs.Welk thought of this because they wanted to give the kids an opportunity to be artistic and express themselves.
“The event gives kids who don’t have the opportunity to make a ceramic piece the option to paint and take them home,” said Mrs.Vincent. It fills them with joy and seeing them so joyous is heartwarming. They come up with designs and ideas she would have never thought of, and they’re all beautiful pieces and she is amazed by their creativity.
Mrs.Welk’s favorite part of this event is for the kids to have inclusion of the PIT crew students with the general population. “The first week of school they all asked when they were going to do the pumpkins again,” said Mrs.Welk.
The PIT crew students involved in painting the pumpkins were Greg Knott, Giancarlo Gonzalez, Paul Caiazzo, Rutu Gandhi, Alexa Monarch, Matthew Castro, Michael Maranan, Bryan Varghese, Lavaris Holmes, Nicole Palacio, Matthew Crooks, Brandon Marmol, and Jamere Ayler.
Micheat Maranan painted his pumpkin the colors of the rainbow because he loves all of the colors in the rainbow and they make him happy.Greg Knott painted his pumpkin blue and orange because he loves the Miami Dolphins.Nicole Palacio said that painting the pumpkins was fun and creative. She painted her pumpkin with orange, green, and red that matched the orange.Paul Caiazzo painted his pumpkin a variety of colors red, blue, yellow, and aqua blue because he thought it would look nice.
