This year’s homecoming was on September 24, 2016. The week prior, Timber Creek had its annual homecoming spirit week. Each student got the chance to show school spirit by dressing up according to each day’s theme. The themes for each day were:
Monday 9/19: Class Color Day
- Seniors wear pink
- Juniors wear blue
- Sophomores wear red
- Freshman wear white
Tuesday 9/20: Network Day
- Seniors are Disney
- Juniors are Nickelodeon
- Sophomores are Cartoon Network
- Freshman are PBS
Wednesday 9/21: Movie Character Day
Thursday 9/22: Throwback Day
Friday 9/23: Spirit Day
When asked what his favorite part of spirit week was, Mr. Patten, a psychology teacher at Timber Creek said, “I feel normal for a week because people wear the same clothes I wear on a normal basis.”
The homecoming football game was a win for the Wolves. SGA announced the homecoming King and Queen which were Cameron Mack and Carli Mower. Congratulations to them and to the Homecoming Court of 2016. The Regiment also put on an amazing performance after the football game.
The homecoming dance was a huge success. It was at the House of Blues in Disney Springs from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am. They played a variety of great songs and people were dancing and have a lot of fun. The theme this year was “Midnight Movie.” To go along with the theme they provided movie theatre style snacks including pretzels, popcorn and candy. They also were giving airbrush tattoos before 11:00 pm. Junior Jordan Harris said his favorite part of homecoming was being able to hang out with his friends and have fun. Junior Essence Brown said her favorite part of homecoming was when the balloons dropped. “It was a sight to see,” Brown said.
SGA prepared for the dance in many ways. Their advisers had to call the House Of Blues and schedule the dance months in advance. The whole organization had to vote on the spirit day themes. SGA hosted a powder puff football game where each grade has a team of all girls who play flag football. The games were between seniors VS. freshman and sophomores VS. juniors and then the winners play each other. SGA also hosted a movie night, and their annual homecoming parade.
Timber Creek is the only school in the state that hosts their homecoming at the House Of Blues. It is considered a huge honor to be allowed to go back every year. Senior Chandler Lewis, SGA’s Public Relations Officer said, “Just the experience itself I think is a once in a lifetime chance.” She also mentioned the confetti cannons and balloon drop and how they make the night that much more special.
