How the Regiment took on Disney

By Nate Antao

On January 8 th , TC Regiment students left the school at 2:45 AM. As the band and color

guard arrived at the Epcot entrance the cold took control. In the gushing wind and cold weather, the

band played continuously as the color guard friendly high-fived the runners till 7 AM.

Senior Alessandro Buzzetta included that “…Each time I went back outside I wish I had more

clothing on, that’s pretty much the big difference from other years.” Buzzetta also explained that this

year was his favorite due to the fact that this is the last time he will be with his whole regiment family,

one he’s been with since the 10 th grade.

New color guard member and freshman: Gracie Bonner commented on her first experience

at the marathon; “There was one guy that had shorts on and only shorts and tennis shoes and no shirt

or anything” she states that it felt like – 20° and it didn’t faze the runners one bit. Senior color guard

member Courtney Vickers was well-surprised by the Florida weather. She stated that “My fingers and

toes felt like there were freezing off”

Junior and mellophonium player Sebastian Garcia had strong opinions on the music choice.

“Pick me up type of music” was the word choice that Garcia used.

The outcome of marathon was incredible, considering the conditions of the weather and

scheduling. On the previous day, the weather was so painful that Disney had to cancel, leaving all the

Saturday runners to have to come again on Sunday. This resulting in an overcrowded weekend at Disney

and overcrowding at the marathon. Also regiment kids who were scheduled for Saturday were pushed

back to Sunday. Furthermore the students had a good time at the Holiday Disney marathon and the

regiment will continue to cheer up the runners every year for a great cause.
