This year, the Programming Team entered Cyber Security competitions. For the first competition, the team wanted to compete at a collegiate level competition called CSAW (https://ctf.isis.poly.edu/about/).
Overall, the team finished 586th out of 1387 teams. Teams were made up from post-secondary educational institutions from around the world with over 450 industry/professional teams.
Teams were asked to solve trivia questions, conduct research on different security individuals, exploit login systems flaws, monitor network traffic, and decrypt and reverse engineer code.
“I normally don’t think of 586th as a win, but when we compare TCHS with the Florida University System we are in the middle of the bunch. I am very happy with that,” said team sponsor Kyle Dencker in an e-mail to staff.
These are the rankings:
25th – University of South Florida (Undergrad) – 6700 points
