On Friday, Feb. 20, Prom 2015 information was released at http://tchs.ocps.net. Scheduled for April 25, excitement grows as more details about the event become available to the public. Prom 2015 will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at midnight, and will take place at the Hilton Orlando Resort (6100 Destination Parkway).
The main theme for this year has been set. “Midnight masquerade… A lot of schools have been trying to get it through and it hasn’t gone through because of [the need] for masks,” said Junior Class President Jessica Rumore. However, two themes will be implemented in an attempt to please the people’s different tastes, according to Prom 2015 committee member Andy Best. “It’ll be masquerade and neon lights,” he said.
Planning has been on foot for the past month and continues to be. “Planning is still taking place,” said Best. “We are making sure it will be a night that [attendees] will remember.” Certain aspects, such as the decoration and music, are still being decided. Food has been set.
According to Junior Class Treasurer and Prom 2015 committee member Amara Wiggan, a lot of time is being invested into the planning process, with an extensive amount of work; “the end product makes it all worth it,” she said. Few complications have come about–though they can be easily solved, according to Rumore. Deciding on decorations is what Rumore enjoys the most. “I want to be an event planner, and I like decorating—that’s kind of my favorite part.”
Tickets will be on sale from April 6 to April 17 for seniors, and 13th to 17th for juniors. Tickets cost $85 for juniors and seniors, and $90 for underclassmen and guests.
Prom is thought to exceed the student-body’s expectations, according to Rumore. “It’s going to be a great prom—I’m going to make sure it’s the best.”
