Back in 2012 Rihanna founded the American nonprofit organization called Clara Lionel Foundation, which was named after her grandparents. The Foundation’s mission is to help impoverished communities around the globe with healthcare , education , and other various programs. The foundation has established a scholarship programs for students abroad who plan on attending college in the United States , and awards those students between $5,000 and $50,ooo. To bring attention to her organization every year the singer host the annual Diamond Ball which is an event that attracts many celebrities and help raise money for the foundation.
This year the Harvard Foundation, selected Rihanna as the recipient of the Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award for her charitable work promoting healthcare and education in the Caribbean. The singer also center for oncology and nuclear medicine in her home country of Barbados and her scholarship program has overwhelmingly helped students in the Caribbean. To Rihanna being a humanitarian means that “All you need to do is help one person, expecting nothing in return,” says the singer.
