More than 30 million children trundle through school cafeteria lines every day in the United States. Food and nutrition directors at school districts nationwide say that their trash cans are overflowing while their cash register receipts and diminishing as children toss out their lunch because they don’t like it or it’s not good. The students’ opinions on what should be served for lunch should be taken into consideration and maybe then schools would have overflowing trash cans and cash registers.
Some of the options served are; milk, juice, bread,chicken nuggets, fruit, cookies, cheese burgers.
Students here at Timber Creek High School have their own opinions on school lunch.
What do you think about school lunch?
Lindsey Hendrix said,” School lunch is okay. It should have more healthy choices such as vegetables and fruits. And lunch should be longer.”
What do you currently dislike about school lunch?
Brady Meer said, “There needs to be more stands that sell food because the wait takes up all of our socializing time.”
What changes do you think should be made in the school lunch menu?
Candace Carmouche said, “The school lunch food should be cooked fresh and students should be served fresh beneficial foods.”
