It may have been a meaningless game since the Wolves have their playoff position locked up. Even so, the seniors didn’t play like it. Senior night was Nov. 7 for the varsity squad, and they had to be excited when they saw Freedom High School on the schedule.
The Wolves took care of business with a score of 42-13. Before the end of the first half they were up 35-6, and the starters were taken out. “We know next weeks playoff game is the game to worry about,” said senior offensive lineman Chris Angelis.
Thanks to three more rushing touchdowns by senior running back Jacques Patrick, and a stout defensive performance, the Wolves improve their record to 7-3. Senior defensive back Joshua Perry played an impressive game as well. Perry had an interception return for a touchdown and led the starting defense. “It was a great night. We played as a team, and won as a team,” said Perry.
This comes after Perry was out with a broken collarbone for six weeks. “It was a big loss for us when he went out. He can play every position on defense. He’s tough, he’s a leader, and he knows how to make plays,” said defensive coordinator Marc Jackson.
This is a big rebound after their tough loss on Halloween to Oviedo in the District Title game. The win will give them plenty of confidence heading into their playoff matchup against undefeated powerhouse West Orange High School.
Former Timber Creek football star Lemuel Jeanpierre was honored at halftime by having his jersey retired. It was a moment that brought amazing memories back for many of the Wolves faithful; and also a reminder that one day they may see their favorite running backs number 10 retired as well.
