Shrek the Musical is a complete student directed and run show highlighting the immense talent of the Timber Creek theater department. Student Director and Senior Marinette Gomez was honored to be selected as head of the production. “It’s my first time being the student director and it’s been great,” says Gomez. When asked what the most challenging aspect of the show was she immediately replied “The only difficult part was differentiating my role as a director and as a friend.”

Lead actor, Junior Aaron Ivey, is thrilled to be playing the role of Shrek. “I was very happy when I was cast as Shrek. It was the role I always wanted,” said Ivey. While he is thrilled with portraying the role of Shrek, it did not come without challenges. One of the most difficult for Ivey was being angry all the time. “I’m not really a very angry person and Shrek is so that was one of my biggest challenges with this role,” commented Ivey.

The friendships among the actors and production team is apparent in the amount of time they spend together. Rehearsals for the show started two weeks after the start of school and they continue until the premier. This gave the cast and crew immense bonding time and illustrates the effort each individual put into making the show a success. Gomez comments “I love everyone in the cast and the show is going to be great!”
