Last year on October 27th, Stranger Things Season 2 was released on Netflix. This has been a highly anticipated release by fans since the show first aired in the summer of 2016. The original series was quickly able to become a world-wide phenomenon; being nominated for awards and competing with other popular television shows.
The main plot of the show revolves around the sudden disappearance of a child, which causes a rift of straining mystery and tension among the town known as Hawkins, Indiana. The time period is in the 1980’s. Cryptic government organizations and ostensible supernatural forces focalize on the town, leaving locals to question the outlandish happenings in the community and throw caution to the wind.
“The show is really interesting because I haven’t seen anything like it before,” says sophomore Emily Rincon. “It’s cool because it’s set in an older time period, in the 1980’s. I like the older feel of it,” Rincon claims.
The show has gained massive popularity among varying audiences, young and old; causing rapid success and outbreak for the stars in the series. With all the prosperity and attention brought to the show in the first season, fans couldn’t wait to find out what was later to come in the series.
In season 2, the writers and producers of the show, The Duffer brothers, focused a lot on character and plot development. Throughout the second season, a noticeable emphasis was put on some of the more overshadowed characters from season one. The audience was able to get to know the some of the characters more and discover secrets hidden beneath their personality.
“I started watching the show because one of my teachers where talking about it,” says sophomore Luz Garcia. “Season two has a bunch of suspense, especially when you think everything is all solved and then it gets more complicated,” Garcia says. “The outcomes are very unpredictable.”
