The summer is a time for fun, parties, and overall freedom for teens, especially the new drivers. Sure, when you are out, just hanging out with your friends you feel cool, confident and comfortable. However, most teenage girls are unaware of how susceptible they are to abduction, rape, or fatality.
Girls need to learn to be more aware of their surroundings -where ever they may be. The risks are always there. Especially at parties or social events. While one can trust their friends, you never know what is in that red cup.
Doesn’t make getting “waste” your goal on any occasion. The worst thing one can do to themselves is take away their own self-control. This is giving control of your body to someone else, and when you are so intoxicated you will be unaware if one is taking advantage of you.
Going in groups is always helpful, however there are going to be circumstances where one will need to be alone. That is when you take it upon yourself to know what you’ll be using as a form of self-defense, never be afraid to carry pepper spray! It’s super discreet and easy to use in an emergency.
Now, I’m not implying that guys don’t need protection from harm of the outside world either, according to The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in 2014; there were 466,949 entries for missing children under the age of 18 into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center.
The truth is, it can happen to anyone. No one wakes up in the morning thinking that they are going to be abducted. So, while the summer is about having fun, it’s also more important to keep ourselves safe.
