The Belko Experiment, currently showing in theaters, offers a gory twist on any normal thriller. In a game of kill or be killed 80 Americans are held hostage in a high rise corporate building. Ordered by an unknown voice over the company’s intercom, the hostages fear the risks of not participating. However enticing the trailer may be, the reality is the complete opposite.
What seems to be an edge of your seat thriller is a drag. This movie had people asleep in the theater and the ones awake disturbed by the extensive violence. The plot drowned on and lacked in emotional ties leaving the movie depleted of any attachment or thought provoking action. This thriller, which shouldn’t even be allowed the genre title, lacks the nerve that a true thriller carries.
The only reason to see this movie is to be disturbed by the gore. Full of shock value violence the movie offers it’s only emotional response to the audience. The amount of blood and guts in this movie is beyond what is expected. The Belko Experiment also lacks in any explanation or plot reveal that makes the movie brilliant. Unoriginal, boring, and disappointing this movie is the not-see of the season.
