What is Prom? Well prom is when a school hosts a school dance for the end of the year usually hosted for Juniors and Seniors, to celebrate them getting ready to graduate. Every prom has a different theme. Students and staff can have fun dressing up based on the theme of their prom. Prom also helps students with social skills and getting to know everyone.
Prom is the event that leads up to graduation. It is what makes the last months of school so memorable. High school prom is something people will have memories off for the rest of their lives with their high school besties. It’s one of the most unforgettable moments in life, and a fun way to end the year.
This year, Timber Creek High School is hosting a prom with the theme of “The Roaring 20’s”. This theme is based on the new year of 2020. This year the students are very excited for their prom, especially the seniors. They’re excited about the next step in their life and prom kind of helps them celebrate an end of an era for them.
Typically, students will ask out the person they want to take as a date in a very unique and special way. Some students even ask to be able to ask out the other during halftime at football games. They also use really big posters with unique little sayings and riddles to ask them to go to prom with them.
Isaac Alexander, Senior and study body president, when asked how he felt about prom this year, stated, “ The thing that I am most excited about is my outfit. It’s really exciting. I just want to stand out and pop and make my senior prom outfit memorable.” Some students want to make a statement with their outfits and express their character. Emileigh Benincasa , Junior, stated, “I’m very excited for prom. Especially for the whole dress experience. I’m going with a bunch of my friends and we’re really excited to share a new experience.”
The process leading up to prom is a very exciting process. From the promposal to picking out the perfect dress to renting out a limo to go with all your best friends. It is a memory people talk about for ages. It is overall a magical experience and one that everyone should experience.
