On January 10th, successful alumni Patrick Starr (born Patrick Simondac) visited Timber Creek while being home for the holidays. Starr graduated in the class of 2008. While enrolled at Timber Creek he was in the Timber Creek Regiment. Taught by Mr. Cox, he played the Clarinet and was in second chair. Starr said he has learned a lot through the years of being at Timber Creek. After his visit he posted a picture with Mr. Cox captioned, “I learned discipline, perseverance and trust.” He has kept in touch with Mr. Cox ever since. Starr thanked Mr. Cox while speaking to the students, “Being in the regiment and conditioning yourself really taught me to become strong person– and that stuck with me. And thats why I’m saying this. It is really important and be really thankful. Thank you so much.”
The night before and morning of visiting Timber Creek Starr posted over his snapchat announcing his visit. Students were ecstatic while they spread the news while posting all over social media about the upcoming visit. As Starr arrived students gathered to meet the admirable business person, make-up artist, and social media influencer.
Starr’s inspiration for makeup started off with photography. He started doing senior pictures and developed a passion for photoshopping makeup on the computer. That involved color-correcting, adding blush, getting rid of blemishes etc. One of his classmates in band let him have a Mary Kay makeup kit. Starr thought doing makeup could just save him time during the photoshop process. So then with the passion of makeup he dove straight in and pursued his career. Now he has accomplishments that include a huge following of 3.9 million people on Instagram, a YouTube subscriber count of 3.3 million people, and working with million dollar brand names such as Tarte, Estee Lauder, Mac, and Nyx. Patrick Starr also won the award for Beauty at the 2017 Streamy Awards.
There is no doubt that Starr is admired through the hallways of Timber Creek and has left a huge legacy. One student inspired by Starr is freshman, Brooke Burton who said, “He inspires me to be the best version of myself and always see the best in other people. He also taught me that a little sass never hurt anyone.” Even with a following of 3.9 million people on Instagram, a YouTube subscriber count of 3.3 million people, and working with people such as rapper Logic, and Kim Kardashian, Starr continues to stay humble and inspire all age ranges from his home-town.
