Timber Creek started off Homecoming week this year Monday, September 17, much earlier than prior years. However, this did not affect school spirit one bit. This week is known to be many students’ favorite time during the school year! To start of the week, we had class color day! Freshmen were decked out in red, sophomores in green, juniors in blue, and finally seniors in pink. And if pink was not enough to identify the seniors, many seniors proudly walked around with crowns on their heads decorated to their own liking.
As Monday led into Tuesday more creative outfits and ideas were displayed throughout the school. Tuesday was filled with students dressed as their favorite musicians throughout the decades. From simple Nirvana and Pink Floyd Concert Tees to full-on head-to-toe costumes of Selena and Ozzy Osbourne, students had fun guessing each other’s costumes all over campus. By Wednesday, students joined forces with their closest friends to achieve the most clever group costumes. Groups found inspiration in there favorite TV shows and movies.
On Thursday, the student body took casual to a whole new level. Everyone could be seen in there coziest pajamas. Some accessorized there pajamas with robes, slippers, teddy bears, and eye masks. When asked which day was her favorite Junior, Stephanie Rojas said ”Pajama day was the best. I think me and my friends got the cutest pictures.” Like Rojas many people took pictures along the week showcasing the thought and hard work that went into their outfits. Finally, Friday rolled in, eager students representing the school in purple and black. The exceeding amount of spirit on Friday was clear. During lunches, students as well as administrators could be seen in the courtyard taking part in festive games like the water balloon toss.
By the end of the day students were waiting in anticipation for the main event of spirit day: the pep rally. The pep rally was filled by ongoing performances of Timber Creek’s talented teams. Starting off with the Cheer team along with Band playing in the background, the cheerleaders had the duty of riling up the crowd. Afterwards went the majorettes, the apprentice and elite dance teams, and finally step. In the bleachers a sea of black white and purple was cheering, chanting, and singing along to their favorite songs. In both the Senior/Junior and Sophomore/Freshman pep rally, from beginning to end, the crowd’s enthusiasm never dropped. The end of pep rally meant an end to spirit week, but students hummed along ready to take on their next venture: the homecoming game. When speaking with Sophomore, Danni Sierra, on her first pep rally performance which was with the step team she said, “I was kind of nervous going into it, but I left wanting to do it again. It was definitely an experience I would do all over again.”
