The Freeform show “Grown-ish” is a spin-off of the ABC comedy show “Black-ish.” The new spin-off show stars Yara Shahidi who plays Zoey Johnson who has recently started college and is starting to figure her way through college and where she fits in. Zoey Johnson is used to living in her parents house as the oldest child and not getting the full life experience, but now she has ventured out to college where she finds her group of friends. Trevor Johnson also stars in grown-ish as Zoey’s new friend/ crush Aaron Johnson. Zoey has also meets Sky and Jazz Foster played by Chloe and Halle Bailey, and Zoey’s best friend, Nomi Segal played by Emily Arlook.
The group of friends met in a common class on the college campus and this class is considered one of the worst classes on campus and the only reason that one would get this class would be if they were late for registration so the group of friends share their stories on how came to be in that class and they automatically bonded. The new show aired on January 3rd 2018 with their first episode “Late Registration.” From then until now there have been 8 episodes and they can be watched either on Freeform go or as many people watch it, on Hulu. Sophomore Anaya Daniel is watching grown-ish on hulu. “If I could describe Grown-ish in one word because it is an accurate representation of what i think that my college experience may be like” said Daniel.
Grown-ish is a hilarious comedy that is supposed to portray the life of an average college student. Sophomore Anaya Daniel is looking forward to college after high school and being independent and working towards her goals. Daniel says that she loves the show and she watches the show a lot. “I have probably watched the show every week since it came out because every week there is a new episode!”
