How can I describe Cassidy Johnson? She is the most hardworking, determined, and honest student you’ll ever meet. She is involved in a variety of clubs which are: National Honors Society, National Science Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Rho Kappa, Beta Club and she is also the Secretary for Senior Class Council. On top of all those clubs, she manages to get good grades and maintain a part-time job. She one day hopes to see herself curing HIV.
Are you planning on joining any clubs in college?
I don’t know if these clubs go past high school but if they do I might.
Why do you want to be remembered as the person who cured HIV?
It’s not necessarily that I want to be remembered as that it’s just that people who do notable things tend to be remembered and I wouldn’t do it for the glory I would do it because I hope I can.
What made you want to deal with AIDS and HIV?
I was in the medical magnet my freshmen through junior year and my favorite class was MI or Medical Intervention with Mrs. Jandy. I enjoyed all three years but that last year was my favorite because we actually began to discuss the intricacies of science. I don’t just want to know what, I also want to know why.
What has been your greatest weakness this school year?
I just don’t have a lot of time to study. Not that I have bad time management, but I just physically don’t have the time to do everything I need to do.
What are you still looking forward to upon graduation?
Leaving. I’m just ready to go, not that I don’t like it here or anything or that this was a terrible experience I’m just ready to go.
What college(s) have you been accepted to so far?
I have been accepted to Agnes Scott College, University of South Florida, Hofstra University, and I’m still waiting to hear back from Vanderbilt University, Princeton University, Emory University and Swarthmore College.
Cassidy Johnson is the perfect representation of what a hardworking student is. She has made the most of her senior year by getting involved and maintaining good grades. We can all learn a thing or two from Cassidy Johnson.
