Rollins and Rwanda meet Wekiva (2018)

Last week the distinguished Rollins College Debate Team and their visiting guests from the Rwanda National Debate Team paid a visit to our team at Wekiva High School. It was a very interesting afternoon!

Busy Week Planned for Wekiva Debate Team (2018)

We have an exciting week planned for the Wekiva Debate Team:

Tuesday Oct. 23: special Debate Team meeting in 523 after school: Hotel Rwanda film. 

Wednesday, Oct. 24: The annual Rollins College Great Debate is on Wednesday, October 24th, 2018 from 7:30 — 9:00 p.m. in Tiedtke Hall. This year’s debate will be between the Rollins College and the Rwandan National Debate Teams. The resolution for the debate is: This house believes that the members of the international community have a responsibility to intercede in other countries in cases of genocide and crimes against humanity. Wekiva High School students are invited to attend, but space is limited. See Mr. Swirsky for details.

Thursday, October 25, at 2:30, the Rollins and Rwanda Debate teams visit Wekiva High School in room 523. Sign up with Mr. Swirsky to attend.

Upcoming Rollins Great Debate (2018)

News from Rollins College Debate Coach Dr. Eric Smaw:

This year the Great Debate will occur in the fall and follow Professor Martha Nussbaum’s discussion of global citizenship and responsible leadership with President Grant Cornwell. The Great Debate will occur on Wednesday, October 24th, 2018 from 7:30 — 9:00 p.m. in Tiedtke Hall. The teams participating in the debate will be the Rollins College and the Rwandan National Debate Team. The resolution for the debate will be: This house believes that the members of the international community have a responsibility to intercede in other countries in cases of genocide and crimes against humanity.
