On Saturday 4/21, Carlos Flechilla, Jayden Terrell, and Kyle Karnitz competed in Lockheed Martin’s annual Code Quest. There were over 100 teams from schools across Florida competing in two levels, Novice and Expert. Novice is for schools with only one year of Computer Science courses while Expert is for schools with multiple levels of programming courses. Apopka competed in the Novice category and our team placed second.
These guys were quite amazing and really excited to not only compete, but tour the Lockheed Martin facility and see the amazing simulations and training programs being created for our military. While we only competed against teams from Florida, Lockheed Martin holds the event at locations across the world. Carlos, Jayden, and Kyle were on the leaderboard for the entire contest and were barely edged out by Timber Creek. They not only won a trophy for our program but each of them were awarded free Raspberry Pi to use at home.
They all plan to apply for potential internships at LM and they represent our future engineers and technology leaders.
