Weekly Briefing – Week of June 19, 2022

Dear Falcon Vanguard Families:

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I am very excited that each one of you have decided to be a part of the Attitude, Spirit, and Pride of the ERHS Falcon Vanguard!

Happy Father’s Day to all of our Band Family Dads, Grandfathers, Step Fathers, and Father Figures. We appreciate you all for what you bring to your families and our band family too! Also, Happy Juneteenth as OCPS commerates this important day in our nation’s history. For those of you who wish to know more about the significance of Juneteenth, please visit http://www.juneteenth.com.

This week and next week, we will continue our rehearsal schedule as we have. These Tuesday evening rehearsals are required unless you are out of town on vacation. I think there was a mixed signal that they are not mandatory. Please do NOT skip these rehearsals unless you are on vacation with your family … and in that case, please enjoy your time away! We will have a board member parent in the room on Tuesdays to assist any parents with paperwork or uploading the forms that OCPS requires.

Rehearsal times for June 21 & June 28: Percussion & Guard: 5 PM to 9 PM, Woodwinds 5:30 PM to 7 PM and Brass 7:30 PM to 9 PM.

OCPS will be closed the week of July 4th so there will NOT be a rehearsal on July 5th.

Percussion Camp will begin on July 11. Please follow the schedule that was sent home with your student. This can also be found on the calendar on Charms and on the Band Apps. If you have not signed up for the Band App, please email Ms. Krieger at support@erhsband.com and she will help you.

We have launched a new web site! It can be found at http://www.erhsband.com. The Members Only page is password protected. The password can be found on the board in the band room. On this page, you can find links to all important documents, music, and resources. This will be a living document and anything you need to have will be linked here. Be sure to get the OCPS Medical Forms that are required, if you have not done so already. Students are REQUIRED by OCPS to have a physical and an ECG done in order to participate in marching band.

Well, that does it for me on this beautiful Sunday. I hope you all have a “better than terrific” week and I will see you on Tuesday!

Mr. V.
