by Bruna Araujo and Jocelyn Ponce

Christmas Pinecones:

When life gives you pine-cones…make Christmas decorations! Pine-cones are everywhere, but did you know you can turn them into Christmas works of art? Christmas is almost here, and that means it’s time to get crafty.

Get creative:

-Pinecones

-Paint

-Glitter or glitter paint

-Styrofoam, pipe cleaners, felt (optional, this was for the Angel)

-Paintbrushes

-Star and pompoms (optional, for the tree)

– Anything else that brings out your creativity!

First gather all your materials, anything you want to put on your pine-cone–glitter, paint– and anything that you have in mind. Just make sure not to forget the pine-cones.

Figure out what you want to do, or just go where your paintbrush takes you. There are several cool things you can do to your pine-cone, like making your it into a Christmas tree. You will need a star topper or mini pompoms for the ornaments, and any other ones you have in mind. You can do an all green tree, and add white at the tips of the pine-cone for a snowy look.

If you choose to do so, you can make a poinsettia–a Christmas flower– you will need green and red paint along with glitter paint for that extra pop. This one was easy and fun.

Next up, the angel. Glitter is optional but certainly makes it look nice. You should use felt for the wings, and a styrofoam ball for the head, and a pipe cleaner to wrap the pine-cone dress.

There are so many fun Christmas things to do with pine-cones, it is all about being creative, and letting your Christmas artist out!

Lastly admire your creation, sit back, relax and have some hot chocolate.
