About Me

This is my fourteenth year of teaching at Lakemont. I am originally from Illinois, but have lived in many places, including New York, California, Washington, Michigan, and Switzerland. For the past fourteen years, I have called Florida my home. I received my undergraduate degree (B.S. Speech/Theatre) from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and my graduate degree (M.A. Teaching) from Rollins College right here in Winter Park. In addition, I am certified to teach Gifted, ESOL, Future Problem Solving, and Thinking Maps.  I continue to participate in workshops and seminars to expand my knowledge, including Lucy Calkins’ Readers Workshop at Columbia University in New York City, and professional development trainings throughout the state.  I served on the Teacher Advisory Board at the Orlando Repertory Theater. I am a lifelong learner!

My husband and I have two wonderful sons, Adam (in Los Angeles) and Spencer (a junior Engineering major at University of Florida), and a precocious dog named Snowy. In my spare time I enjoy being with family and friends, creating, reading, playing games, scrapbooking, and watching sports/movies.
